Turned Tables, 2017

A series of tables made with friend and master woodworker Peter Thorne. (Peter refined his trade as a furniture maker at the Hancock Shaker Village in the Berkshires, where he has lived and worked for six decades).

The wood and ceramic side tables were designed as an ode to mine and Peter’s mutual love of turning. The table tops are reappropriated, ready-made kiln shelves finished in a full surface of pitted glazes. The tables were crafted by Peter out of white oak, meticulously turned on a lathe and tinted black with a mixture of vinegar and steel wool.
